Metamorphosis: Christina Ricci

We all know showing skin on the beach is so gross. Tans are obnoxious.
And they don't make you look skinnier, stop trying. Eat a salad.

Givenchy... One of my favorites... In my mind
this is how I look every day going to work,
cooking a 5 course dinner, seducing my lover.

Black Snake Moan...You a mighty fine woman won't you back dat ass up.

Most recently seen wearing Pipit. That'll make two of us.

A good friend cares about the way you look and feel.

Celia Ellenberg, editor of the beauty blog at Style.com. came over last night with a pint of vanilla ciao bella gelato, fresh rasberries and dark chocolate chips accompanied by the latest and greatest Leonor Greyl hair conditioner and magnolia infused body oil.
Celia is also obsessed with Nail Art so when I saw this image in the New York Times sunday paper this morning, I naturally thought of her!

NYT: Cut The Crap

While I was in Virginia this week (regretfully missing the Dossier store opening party in my backyard) I watched my boyfriend, Jeff (for those who dont know him) anxiously looking for the newly trimmed down NYT Sunday magazine. With much anticipation over how it would look/read, he noticed how thin this issue was in comparison to past Architectural issues, which have been much more substantial in content.

And it truly dissapoints me that Women's T magazine has folded into the Sunday magazine. I really loved the Spring and Fall issues! Over the last couple months there has been much speculation over elephant in the room (the decline of the publishing industry) and I have found myself asking friends if they are buying magazines to get their information or if they get it all from the internet.

Maybe I am a media glutton, but I find myself reading/enjoying both, the physical and digital. What about you??

Paul Dano is cute, smart and funny.

A couple months ago, the fashion director of NYLON asked me to style Paul Dano for the cover of Nylon Guys.
He was nice enough to give me an autograph and write out a special note to my friend who is obsessed with him.

Paul Dano is funny. Play the video of our Behind the Scenes.

The Kills

New Video by Kenneth Capello - Black Balloon by the Kills

Tonight the Kills are in town. I heard their song was on Gossip Girl.
And instead of trekking out, I'll stay in and watch Gossip Girl for the
first time with Skye and Alec.

Dossier Store

This past weekend, Dossier Journal opened up a store in Ft. Greene Brooklyn (244 Dekalb Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenue.) Check it out. And buy my vintage designer duds. Or come upstairs and say Hi, because I live here too.

Redhook

(photo: found image of the Erie Basin in Redhook)

Every week I make a trip to my favorite grocery store, Fairway
in Redhook, one of my favorite destination neighborhoods in Brooklyn.
Fairway is mecca holy land for people who like to cook with fresh ingredients, or
for those who love to stock up on a week's worth of breakfast, lunch and dinner without
breaking the bank. The selection of organic and farm raised poultry is impressive.
And instead of making trips to a local cheese shop or butcher, Fairway houses a knowledgeable helpful staff making your trip a one stop shop.

My favorite items to get are:
1. cheese- because a woman isn't really a woman if she doesn't eat cheese.

2. olives - i heard that Mariah Carey got skinny on a diet of olives and champagne

3. truffle oil - drizzle this and honey on a round of brie, then bake in the oven. A spiritual experience.

4. coconut water - historically used as intravenous fluid, which has saved lives among wounded soldiers, perfect for this accident prone walking disaster freak on two legs.

5. dark 85% chocolate - unlike any medication or glass of wine, chocolate has the power to lift me out of a K-hole.  Cocoa improves cardiac health, reduces risk of cancer, lung disease and diabetes. Way!

Bill Cunningham

I particularly love this illustration of New York Times's style
photographer, Bill Cunningham, who I wish was my grandfather
well, because he reminds me of my grandfather! I have a deep
appreciation of what this man does every week, every season.
